Parapet and wall-foot leakage: cracks, terminations and upstands
A parapet is not one flat surface. The coping, face cracks, wall-foot corner, waterproofing termination and fixings can each interrupt the water-resistant envelope.

Inspect from coping to wall foot—not only above the stain
Rainwater may enter at the coping or wall face and move along render, joints or the slab before appearing lower down. Inspect the complete wall rather than one visible crack.
Use an overall view, continuous mid-range photographs and close-ups. Mark roof direction, wall corners and the approximate corresponding leakage location below.

02 Detail continuity

The scope should explain how coping joints, face cracks, the wall-foot corner, waterproofing upstand and fixings remain continuous. A single material name is not a detail design.

Can a fine parapet crack simply be coated with waterproof sealant?+
Do not judge by surface width alone. Confirm the crack type, direction, substrate and adjacent junctions; a surface product cannot replace necessary substrate or structural treatment.
Why is the wall-foot junction a common leakage point?+
The wall and roof move in different directions, and the corner concentrates material junctions. Discontinuous upstands, reinforcement or terminations can create a water-entry path.
Can only the parapet section above the visible stain be repaired?+
Not always. Water can travel along the wall, joints or slab. Define the actual area through continuous photographs, the rainfall timeline and a site inspection.
Should all old parapet repairs be removed?+
The decision depends on adhesion, compatibility, crack movement and the condition below the patch. Sound areas may be retained only where the proposed system can form a verified continuous detail.
